School Website Ideas..

School Website Ideas
I mainly suggest to create our homepage fully decorated with school spirit and bold colors to represent ourselves, a long with more pictures of the students. I think we should have a page dedicated to random pictures of students throughout the year, just so others can have the chance to be on the school's website, without having to be smart or in a club. Students will want to check out the page more often if they are given the chance to see themselves or friends on a public webpage on the internet; thus, allowing them to see all the other great things we could show such as an event/calender page, sport page, a club page, field trips page, art page, outstanding students and teachers page, and etc.
I believe the school website should compose of a little bit from everyone from the school so it can make many students really feel apart of the school spirit.

Below are some examples that I really liked because of their organization, boldness, and creativity.

Cafe Townsend

Cafe Townsend Tutorial

I had the most success on creating new pages to be linked with the main page. The parts that made the most sense to me was how to link pages together, and how to use the properties window in Dreamweaver. The most frustrating part of creating this website was creating and trying to organize the tables the way you want them. I think editing the html sections were a bit confusing, because there is still a lot more I need to learn.
My biggest accomplishment was putting everything together in the end and making sure ALL the links were connected. I was constantly going back and forth checking all the links. The biggest obstacle to me, was to organize everything. The biggest thing that I will keep in mind when making future websites is to link the page you're currently working on to all the others first, before creating another one.

Step 1: Creating the page layout , this is what I started out with.

Step 10: My finished website

Webby's Winning Websites :

These are some of the websites that I would like to use as ideas for a website of my own. I think that these stand out to me the most...

M.A.C. Cosmetics
This website won the People's Voice Winner. I think that they won
because
a lot of people support this company overall, and they sell
really good quality
items. The website is also really easy to browse
and search for what you want.

Rock The Vote
This website also a People's Voice Winner. I think they won
because they support people who are old enough, to vote
for what's best for themselves. They also give everyone an
easy access to news, the whereabouts of voting centers,
and much more information. The website is very organized
and very modern looking.
